UPF is always stated alongside a number, which indicates how many UV rays hit the fabric before a single ray penetrates. A value of UPF 50 means that out of 50 rays, only one penetrates. If 1 out of 50 rays passes through, it corresponds to 2%, meaning the fabric blocks the remaining 98% of UV rays. Therefore, UPF 50 is often described as 98% protection.
Even when your child is wearing UV clothing, please remember to apply sunscreen to areas that are not covered. General sun safety advice still applies.

The fabric of the cap has a UV protection factor of 30 to protect the child's delicate skin from exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays.
